VW engine oil

VW recommends engine oils with vehicle-specific approvals such as 504.00/507.00 or 508.00/509.00, depending on the engine type and year of manufacture. Modern FE engines are often designed for 0W-20 Longlife IV FE, while older engines require 5W-30 or 5W-40, depending on the version. The exact oil specification can be found in the operating instructions, on an information label in the engine compartment or can be determined using the KBA key number (HSN/TSN) - it is not usually indicated on the oil filler cap.

Genuine VW engine oil carries the official Volkswagen approval and meets all manufacturer-specific standards. These oils are specially developed for long-life service and guarantee optimum protection for the engine and particulate filter. In VW vehicles with Longlife Service, the on-board computer indicates the next oil change - usually after 15,000-30,000 km or every two years at the latest. Drivers on short journeys should change more frequently, as more condensation collects in the oil. Regular oil changes with the right VW engine oil will significantly extend the service life of your engine.
